Louisiana Monroe @ Houston Christian 8:00pm EST
UL Monroe projects to cover +9.5 because their offensive profile is much stronger than it appears on paper—once you strip out the blowout at Ole Miss, they’ve shown the ability to space the floor, push tempo, and generate efficient perimeter looks that directly challenge Houston Christian’s weakest defensive area. Their guards have a clear athletic advantage, and ULM’s higher three-point volume gives them built-in volatility that keeps them inside large numbers and creates real upset equity. Houston Christian struggles on the defensive glass and tends to give up second-chance points, an area where ULM has quietly been improving, especially with their newer rotation pieces getting more comfortable. ULM also has the best single player in this matchup from an individual matchup-impact standpoint—their lead guard creates more off-the-dribble pressure than anyone HCU can put on the floor, forcing HCU’s help defense into rotations they often fail to cover. Add in that Houston Christian’s pace and turnover rate can create long cold stretches, allowing ULM to go on quick scoring runs that flip momentum. With those factors combined, the simulation gives ULM a strong chance to stay within a possession late, and if their shooters get hot, a live upset is absolutely on the table.
1 Unit Play: Louisiana Monroe +9.5
Sprinkle: Louisiana Monroe ML — I think they are live dogs in this situation.
