Coastal Carolina will cover +3 because their fast-paced offense and improved perimeter shooting create matchup problems for Winthrop’s slower defensive rotations. The Chanticleers’ backcourt, led by Joshua Beadle and AJ Dancler, has shown strong efficiency in transition and can exploit Winthrop’s tendency to foul on drives. Coastal’s size and rebounding presence with Jerry Ngopot and Leron Thomas should help neutralize Winthrop’s second-chance opportunities and control tempo inside. Playing at home in Conway gives them a crucial edge, where Justin Gray’s squad typically shoots a higher three-point percentage and benefits from the energy of the HTC Center crowd. Defensively, their upgraded length on the perimeter can disrupt Winthrop’s rhythm and limit clean looks from deep. If Coastal sustains its early-season shooting pace and wins the rebounding battle, they have more than enough offensive variance to stay within the number or win outright.
