Florida @ Missouri 8:30pm EST

Florida enters this matchup as a significantly stronger KenPom team — ranked 13th nationally with a robust overall strength of schedule near the top 40 in the country — a testament to the tough slate they’ve already played.  In contrast, Missouri’s schedule strength sits much lower, with its non-conference slate ranked in the 350’s, signaling that their record may be inflated against weaker competition.  The Gators have shown they can compete with elite teams and only have close losses to quality opponents like Duke, UConn, and TCU, while Missouri came out of the break reeling from a damaging loss to Illinois.  Florida’s depth, efficiency on both ends, and superior rebounding should allow them to dictate tempo and limit Missouri’s offensive rhythm.  Meanwhile, Missouri’s profile lacks signature wins and consistent play against high-caliber teams, which should make it hard for them to keep pace with Florida across 40 minutes.  Given Florida’s tougher schedule, higher efficiency metrics, and more battle-tested lineup, they are well-positioned not just to win, but to cover the -7 spread in this SEC opener.
