Kansas @ Texas Tech 9:00pm EST

Texas Tech’s offense has been one of the most prolific in the Big 12, leading the conference in 3-point makes and shooting a stellar effective field goal percentage, which creates matchup problems for most defenses, including Kansas’s–ranked squad. Their two stars — JT Toppin (who is among the conference leaders in scoring and rebounding) and Christian Anderson (who ranks near the top in assists and 3-point efficiency) — give them balanced scoring from inside and out, increasing the likelihood they eclipse their team total. Texas Tech has also been particularly strong at home, posting an undefeated home record this season and showing they perform best when the crowd and pace favor their uptempo offense. Meanwhile, Kansas has shown some defensive lapses this season, especially on the perimeter, which Texas Tech can exploit with their outside shooting attack. Although Kansas enters on a five-game winning streak, they’ve struggled in some road environments and are prone to giving up early offensive rebounds and second-chance points — the kind of scoring that pushes totals higher. Historically, Texas Tech has had success against Kansas in recent head-to-head battles and generally matches up well stylistically in this rivalry, suggesting they can not only win but cover as favorites. Finally, the combination of a high-volume offensive attack from Tech and Kansas’s ability to score in bunches makes the Over on the team totals a reasonable expectation as both sides push tempo and create scoring opportunities throughout the game.
