Pacific @ San Diego 6:00pm EST

San Diego is a strong bet to cover +3.5 because their style travels well: they can play through half-court execution, value possessions, and keep the game from turning into a high-variance track meet where underdogs get run off the floor. Against Pacific, the matchup leans toward San Diego if they can win the “hidden” battle—rebounding and turnovers—because Pacific’s biggest runs usually come when they generate extra shots (offensive boards) or live-ball giveaways that turn into easy points. San Diego’s ability to defend without constantly fouling matters here too, since staying out of the bonus keeps Pacific from scoring with the clock stopped and prevents a tight spread from stretching late. Offensively, San Diego typically has enough shot-making across the perimeter to punish overhelp and enough patience to get Pacific defending deep into possessions, which tends to create cleaner looks and higher-quality late-clock shots. The +3.5 cushion is especially valuable in a game that profiles as a one- or two-possession finish—if San Diego can simply keep it close through 30 minutes, the pressure shifts to Pacific to execute in the final four. Put together, cleaner possessions, steadier half-court offense, and the ability to limit “free” points (second-chance, transition, and free throws) give San Diego a very real path to stay inside the number—and potentially win outright.
